Color of Water
Majorie Meeker
You will be the color of water;
Your voice will be like the wind;
You will go where the dust goes;
None will know you have sinned.
None will know you are quiet,
Or fluent, or bound, or free;
None will care you are nothing;
You will be nothing to me.
Except a scarlet remembrance…
As if, in a dream of pride,
A poppy had faunted her petals
One day to the sun, and died.
