A Summer Evening
Ann Batten Christall
How calm is nature’s face, and still!
Yon little wave heaves o’er the rill,
Nor murmurs at its destiny.
On yonder tree the blackbird’s lay
Warbles its fleeting life away;
Thus would I live—thus would I die.
How calm is nature’s face, and still!
Yon little wave heaves o’er the rill,
Nor murmurs at its destiny.
On yonder tree the blackbird’s lay
Warbles its fleeting life away;
Thus would I live—thus would I die.
